Hey, everyone! I know that you clicked on my blog expecting to read about…well, me, but I think this is a little bit more important. What you’re going to be reading next is by my sister Sharon, a seventh-grader at Berry Miller. She wrote an article about Dylan Lord, the boy whose life was lost in a plane crash on Sunday, and I’m posting it on here:

We Love You Dylan

Dylan Lord was probably one of the most loved people at Berry Miller. I never even knew him though, but it doesn’t take friendship to mourn a great person.

I remember one time in the second week of school, when I walked past him in the hallway and said hi by mistake; I thought he was someone else, but he just smiled right back at me.

When the news came about the plane crash, it was like a sudden attack; no one knew what to do or what to say…

At school, the halls were quiet; the usual chatter was abandoned and replaced with mourning. You could literally hear a locker being shut from the other side of the school.

In English class, Mr. Michael Hammond, our student teacher, read us one of Dylan’s writing pieces. It went something like, “Last summer, a great person passed away…he is now in the hands of God.” Then, he explained how Dylan himself was now in the hands of God, and in a better place. By that time, practically everyone was crying. Both whiteboards were covered with notes to Dylan, and a sheet of paper that was going to be sent to his parents was passed around.

Also, for the whole day, no one sat in his chair, in memory of him. That class was probably the saddest period of the day; I didn’t have dry eyes for that whole time. I think that Dylan would be really glad to know that we cared so much for him. While everyone was in their sadness, someone said, “It’s always the best ones who have to pass away.”

Everyone will miss him so much. We love you Dylan.
